1. Scope and controller
This policy covers the Burly app for iPhone, including its widgets. The website and emails to us are covered by the website Privacy Policy. A German version follows below.
The controller is Aleksander Grosz, c/o Autorenglück #50283, Albert-Einstein-Str. 47, 02977 Hoyerswerda, Germany. Contact: hello@joinburly.com. See also the Legal Notice.
2. Your data stays on your iPhone
Everything you enter or record in Burly is stored only in the app’s storage on your iPhone: your profile (such as your name if you give one, birthday, training days, equipment and optional health notes), your goals, plans, workouts, sets, runs and routes, check-ins and settings. The widgets read a short summary of it on the same iPhone.
This version of Burly has no user account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it does not send your training data to us or to anyone else. We cannot see it.
If you use iCloud or device backups, iOS includes the app’s data in them, as set by you in your iPhone’s settings and handled by Apple.
3. Optional permissions
Burly asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can say no, and you can change your choice at any time in the iPhone’s Settings.
- Location: only while a run you started is being recorded, to measure your distance and route. The route is saved in the app on your iPhone.
- Microphone and speech recognition: only when you turn on voice counting during a set. Burly listens for the numbers you say; recognition runs on your iPhone. The audio is not saved and not sent anywhere.
- Apple Health: only if you connect it. Burly can read workout summaries from Health and, when you choose Export to Health, save your runs and workouts there. Health data is processed under Apple’s rules for Health and is never used for advertising.
- Photos: only to add a share image to your library when you choose to save it. Burly cannot see your photos.
- Notifications: only if you allow them, for reminders that your iPhone schedules itself.
4. Sharing
A share card is created on your iPhone when you choose to share a workout, record or streak. It contains no name, photo or location, only your numbers. What happens to it then depends on the app you send it to.
5. Apple and the App Store
Burly is distributed by Apple through the App Store. When you download and use it, Apple processes data as an independent controller, for example your Apple Account, your downloads and, if you agree in your iPhone’s settings, crash reports and usage data, which Apple may share with us without identifying you. See Apple’s privacy policy.
If you contact support from the app, your mail app sends the email; how we handle it is described in the website Privacy Policy.
6. Export and deletion
In the app, Settings → Privacy & data lets you export a copy of your data or delete it. Deleting the app removes its data from your iPhone; copies in your own backups follow your backup settings.
7. Your rights
You have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection under the GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because your app data stays on your iPhone, you control it directly in the app. For questions, write to privacy@joinburly.com.
8. Changes
If the app starts to process data in a new way, for example with an optional account, we will update this policy before the feature is available and tell you in the app. Last updated: 1 November 2026.
Datenschutzerklärung für die App (deutsche Fassung)
Stand: 1. November 2026.
